Whisnu Kusardianto
Recently serving at the United Nations Mission in Sudan as UN Military Observer, he is currently posted in Bor, Sudan. However, as many people said that the place named “Bor” is often associated with “bored”, he finds way to enjoy his assignment in the said place. Being married with 2 kids, he likes watching movies, reading and enjoys fine dining as well as trying out new recipes. Began with the military service since December 1997, initially drafted at the Indonesian Naval Academy as cadet for three and half years. Graduated from the Indonesian Naval Academy, he was then deployed and was handling various assignments on the deck of an Indonesian Warship. Assumed rotating responsibilities, initially as a Navigation Officer, then as a Gunnery Officer, Operational Officer, Principal Warfare Officer, and later on had became an Executive Officer.
The career at the Navy, has exposed him to territorial waters as an Operational Section Officer in a Naval Station. Previous task prior undertaking the United Nations Mission assignment at UNMIS, was as an instructor at the Naval Action Speed & Tactical Training.
Having to possessed on numerous years of service in the navy, Lcdr Whisnu Kusardianto has also been exposed to a naval humanitarian operation, apart from regular military missions. The most recent humanitarian mission he was assigned to was during post-tsunami disaster in Aceh Province. It is not surprising that with all the various mission accomplishments, that several merits and medals were awarded by the Indonesian Government for his loyalty and servitude.
As former UN Secretary General Mr. Boutros-Boutros Gali had stated that UNMO (United Nations Military Observer) is the eye & ear of the Security Council, therefore he felt confident to accomplish his mission at the United Nations Mission in Sudan with sucess.
