Who is .. ?

Tri Ambar Nugroho


Tri Ambar NUGROHO

Major Tri Ambar Nugroho, began his international assignment as U.N. Military Observer with UNMIL in Liberia as the team member of KONGA XXI-4 arrived in Monrovia in late 2006. Have been extensively patroling various regions of Liberia, which to include Voinjama County bordering Guinea.

Having been assigned in the remote areas, has enabled him to develop further his cooking skills and perhaps further exposed to various local delicacies. Survived West Africa’s malaria, he roamed further the jungle of Liberia, interacted with local people while on patrol, either by car, aerial-patrol as well as foot-patrol. Concluded his assignment under UNMIL – Liberia in December 2007, Major Tri Ambar Nugroho continues his career advancement by joining the Indonesia’s Peacekeeping Center back in the Indonesian Defense Headquarters. Attended several military courses overseas from Australia, and to the Netherlands.

Presently Major Tri Ambar Nugroho is serving since 18 Dec 2008 – 30 Jun 2009 as J3-Land Staff Officer of UNIFIL SMC of DPKO and from 1 July 2009 – present time as Staff Officer Strategic Operations of UNIFIL SMC of DPKO at New york’s United Nations Headquarter.

The SMC was created on 12 September 2006 when the force of UNIFIL was increased from 2000 to 15,000 troops after the Israeli-Lebanese war. At the request of major European Troop Contributing Countries, the Secretary-General identified the need to strengthen DPKO’s military component in New York with an additional entity to effectively support the scope and complexity of UNIFIL’s military tasks.

The annual Heads of Military Components Conference, organized by the Department of Peacekeeping Operations’ (DPKO) Office of Military Affairs was held from 3-7 August at UN Headquarters. It brought together the top military officers of the UN’s peacekeeping missions, providing them with an opportunity to share experiences and challenges, not only with each other, but also with senior managers and staff from UN headquarters. UN peacekeeping is now larger and wider in scale and complexity than ever before, with more than 120 countries currently contributing military and police personnel to 17 DPKO-directed and -supported peacekeeping missions, totaling approximately 115,000 men and women in the service for peace.
