She is from Romania, where she lived till the age of 19th. She studied in Italian Literartures in Italy, and from Rome, Italy she moved to New York, USA. Her extensive experience at the United Nations Headquarters in New York has made her to decide undertaking the U.N. Peacekeeping Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) since June 2004.
She loves poetry, Kundera, bossa nova, sunsets, smell of fresh cut grass, rain, freshly brewed coffee, dancing, animals. Apart from Italian, Romanian and English, Marilena speaks 3 other languages, namely: French, Portuguese and Spanish. She and Luigi were born on the same day, month and year, probably approximately at the same time.
