Gusnadi Taswar
Major Adm Gusnadi Taswar recently joined the United Nations Mission in D.R. Congo known as MONUC. He graduated from Indonesian Air Force Academy in 1996 and mostly assumed responsibility as Personnel Administration Officer at the Indonesian Air Force. With present deployment at MONUC, has been his second UN’s assignment at the role as military Observer (MILOBS). His initial mission assignment was to United Nations Observation Mission in Georgia (UNOMIG). Being the final remaining observers on the ground, he had been exposed to the liquidation stage of the mission that further supported his capabilities to be appointed on another UN mission assignment. His mission under UNOMIG was rather short, commenced in May 2009 to July 2009 due to mission’s closure. Therefore, the Indonesia’s Army Headquarters further designate his new duty station to join MONUC beginning February 2010, that was 7 months from repatriation at UNOMIG/Georgia. Presently posted at Team site 112 Gemena under the command umbrella of MONUC Western Brigade.
Concluded various United Nations’ related courses/training by the Global Peace Operation Initiative (GPOI) prior deployment, further attended the Peace Support Operation Instructor Course (PSOIC) at the Malaysian Peacekeeping Training Center, assumed a role as Civil-Military Liaison officer at Skadik 502 Jakarta. Apart from the above, Major Adm Gusnadi Taswar banked several overseas training, some among many are; Instructional Technique Course in Australia in 2003 and a scholarship for Masters degrees (MBA) at Naval Post Graduate School at Monterey California, USA from 2004 to 2005. Further to the said education/training, he then actively support at the planning stage for several joint overseas exercise between the Indonesian Air Force and neighboring countries.
Various exposure and active participation/coordination with vast array of level/groups of of people, had given him new level of confidence and capabilities to further support the International community. The spirit of helping others hasbeen his passion in his line of work. He’s very much blessed with a lovely wife, Flora and two beautiful daughters, Bianca and Fiona. Major Adm Gusnadi Taswar will further share his journey from D.R. Congo.
