Sari Siswa Purnama
Sari studied in Economics, majoring in Accounting at North Sumatera University (USU), 1997-2002. She began her endeavor with the international humanitarian organization in October 2005 under flag of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), almost 1 year since aftermath of the massive earthquake and tsunami hit Aceh. Prior her expose with IOM, had been with the private sector companies for 3 years, all were based in Medan, her hometown. In the quest for an ideal organization, she explored each jobs from one company to another, as she began to feel that there was no chemistry between her passion and the line of work she did. That quest finally landed her at one of the nations’ leading telecommunication enterprise; Indosat. Sari’s passion serving for humanity later finally answered when later on found a chance to work at IOM not long after she joined Indosat and began to get deployed in Meulaboh, Aceh Barat as an Administrative and Finance for the Sub-Office; to support the rebuilding and reconstruction program in Aceh.
Her exposure at IOM further provided her to assume the duty as Project Assistant in the health program of IOM. Armed with the extensive experience at IOM in Aceh, has given her the opportunity for an international assignment, working under MONUC (the UN Mission in the DR Congo) started from 3 December 2009 at Aviation Budget Unit.
Apart from regular activities, she really loves to traveling. The assignment with the UN peacekeeping mission in the DRC (MONUC) has ever since opened the opportunity to explore the African continent, which before exist only as a dream – now that is about to come true. Sari will be sharing more stories from the DRC.
