Nurul Fitri Lubis
Working in humanitarian has been her endeavor since she conducted a lecture task to design a proper house in slum area for poor people. Nurul Fitri Lubis was born on August 19th 1980 in Medan, a city which is still called as her hometown. She got her graduated from University of Sumatera Utara and started her career as humanitarian architect in 2005 by joining UNOPS (United Nations Office for Project Services) to construct UNICEF’s elementary schools in Nias island. Completing her mission with UNOPS, she joined BRR and contributed herself in developing standard design of earthquake resistant buildings. In 2007, she left Nias to continue her humanitarian career as engineer with International Organization for Migration (IOM). During her period with IOM, she was involved in many construction projects to recover Aceh post earthquake and tsunami disaster. United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was her last assignment in Indonesia as Research Assistant. At present, she’s starting her first peacekeeping mission as UN Volunteer for MONUC (UN Mission in DR Congo) in Construction and Maintenance Unit. Photography is her interest. One problem that she’s facing in DR Congo is she can’t play with her beloved camera since the regulation that forbid people for taking photograph in public areas.
